Island Hopping In Coron With Calamianes Expeditions At The Travel Continuously Summit!

We can’t believe how fast the first ever Travel Continuously Summit flew by. It was one epic and successful week of content creation with a group of awesome, dedicated travellers in Coron.

Everyone learnt a huge amount from each other, and the best part is, we spent a week working in paradise and have some incredible content to show you all from the island hopping trips we undertook around Coron.

Here’s what happened on the first of those island hopping adventures, when Calamianes Expeditions took the whole Travel Continuously Crew out onto the water for an epic day of beaches, lagoons and snorkelling.

Snorkelling The Remains Of The Skeleton Wreck

We had a packed itinerary. Coron is a sprawling archipelago of islands, secret beaches and hidden lagoons and it’s difficult narrowing down which spots to visit first.

Calamianes Expeditions though decided that the best option to throw us into Coron was not the beach or even a lagoon, but a sunken shipwreck.

We sped off from Coron harbour in an outrigger boat, speeding past the high limestone karsts that characterise the islands in this part of Palawan.

When we reached a turquoise bay, with just a small wooden hut built into the side of the rock it was time to jump into the refreshing blue water for the first time, Go Pros in hand and masks and snorkels ready.

This was the Skeleton Wreck, a sunken wooden ship that our guide told us had been deliberately turned into an artificial reef. There are many shipwrecks in Coron, but the Skeleton Wreck is the most accessible. It’s close to Coron Town and it’s close enough to the surface of the water to be free dived down into even by inexperienced snorkelers.

The water was teeming with fish and marine life, and it was an unexpectedly vibrant spot to start our day creating content in Coron.

Swimming At The Twin Lagoons

Next up the crew took us over to the Twin Lagoons, one of Coron’s famous landmarks. Here the limestone cliffs tower over beautifully still water while an underwater cavern links the two lagoons together in epic fashion.

Twin Lagoons is where fresh water and sea water meet, combining to create a surreal effect when jumping into the lagoon as the different consistencies merge. It was the perfect place to sit back in the calm water, look up at the unreal scenery and just float around.

The underwater cavern though is the most adventurous route to take to travel between these two awesomely blue areas of water. Take a deep breath and dive deep to get through the passageway!

Calachuchi Beach Lunch Break

While we were swimming around Twin Lagoons and flying drones up high above the cliffs, the crew of Calamianes Expeditions were busy preparing a BBQ feast for us to gorge on at lunch time.

They finished grilling the fish and chicken on the back of the boat as we travelled across to Calachuchi Beach, a white sand beach that’s used exclusively by the company. It was in pristine condition, and we gathered under the wooden beach huts as they served up a buffet of seafood, grilled vegetables and chicken.

Once the food was devoured, with the group re-energised it was time to start making content on the beach.

It was a great setting not just for lunch, but for snorkelling, flying drones, taking pictures for Instagram and making video content with an incredible background.

This is what the Travel Continuously Summit is all about, making awesome content with awesome people in an awesome location!

Last Stop Of The Day: Kayangan Lake

After the food went down, we travelled to our last sight of the day, the spectacular Kayangan Lake.

If you have ever seen a picture of Coron, it’s more than likely to have been a picture of Kayangan Lake, and these days, even more likely to have been an epic aerial picture of Kayangan Lake.

It’s really just that spectacular, and we just couldn’t miss out on this unique spot on the first day trip, this is the place that Coron is really known for after all!

We climbed up the dramatic limestone cliff, along the steep steps which lead to a panoramic viewpoint over the bay, before climbing down the other side and reaching the lake itself.

Kayangan Lake is huge, and a rickety wooden platform runs around the edge, giving easy access to the refreshing water that is such a spectacular landmark.

We jumped in, and finished the day’s tour in an incredible location before heading back to Coron Town to catch the sunset with a cold beer in hand from the rooftop of the Funny Lion.
